Our 6 Step Process
1. Introduction Meeting
This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other to see if our personalities, expectations and requirements meet each other’s criteria.
2. Discovery Meeting
This is the information collection part of the process once we have agreed to move forward in building our relationship. We will be asking for bank statements, brokerage account statements, tax returns and exploring with you your individual lifetime goals and personal priorities.
It takes about two weeks to evaluate the information provided and create a holistic path forward that takes into account planned and unplanned life events and potential economic and tax implications to develop your personalized investment strategy.
3. Solutions Meeting
Together we will review the Financial Plan and recommended investment strategies. After agreeing on a path forward and with a few signatures, we will set up your new accounts and transfer all assets from other brokerage firms. We will walk you through the process of transferring accounts from banks and 401Ks held with past or present employers. The transfer process takes about 2-3 weeks and you may be charged an exit fee by the broker losing the account. If they charge a fee, we will handle the reconciliation once your accounts arrive here.
As the accounts are opened and the assets arrive, the process of consolidating accounts and adjusting the portfolio according to the planned objectives begins.
5. 45 Day Review
We call this our “Brown Bag Meeting”. You will receive a stack of mail which will include confirmations and notifications for account openings, trade confirmations, prospectuses, etc. If you would like some clarification for any of them, throw them into a bag and bring them to this meeting. We will answer your questions and review our newly structured investment strategy.
6. Ongoing Progress Monitoring
Following the strategy we agreed upon, each investment in your portfolio will have specific parameters attached allowing it to move up or down with the market within a specific range. Our technology monitors your investments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If at any time any of your investments fall outside of expected limitations, we are notified immediately so that we may evaluate the situation.
Just like life, your financial plan is a work in progress. It is not something we do once and leave on a shelf to collect dust. As life events force a change in course, your plan also needs to be evaluated and modified to take those changes into account. As we continue to work together toward your life goals, IWM will be here to provide ongoing guidance and monitoring for you and your family.
